What do you think when your team is down from 10+ to 2? Move from a 100m2 office full of office equipments to a 20m2 simple one?
I started the 2011 year with a large office, a team of 10 staffs including developers, designers and an accountant, chasing a dream of becoming a large technology company with different cool products. After a year, I have 2 permanent staffs including me, moved to a much smaller office and focus on one or two projects only.
Many people call it a setback. I call it an advantage.
When I looked at the Drupal statistics in Wikipedia, the first Drupal conference at Antwerp on Feb 2005 had fewer than 50 people attending. The last conference at Chicago this March, over 3000 attendees. What a huge growth. The upcoming Drupal Con in London happens this August. The tickets just started to be sold but I already feel the heat: 350 proposed sessions are submitted.
I have never been at a Drupal conference. I hope this is a chance to attend a Drupal conference, and it would be wonderful to be there as a speaker. My proposed session is "How to make out of the box Drupal products". I also quote the proposal here:
I am in the Drupal market for almost 3 years. At the end of each year, I have to conduct a business review to set strategies for the coming year. One of the most important criteria to be reviewed is the market trend. I am always looking for a growth of Drupal and how it compares to other open source CMSs. This year, I decide to make a 3 year review of Drupal, Joomla and Wordpress from 2008 to 2010.
This review does not mean to be a professional market analysis report, it is only my personal observations. It is also published in Symphony Blog.
On Jan 5th 2011, the Drupal community all over the world celebrates the release of Drupal 7. We all expect that its features are significantly improved. But the greatest enhancement, in my opinion, is the User Experiences. As a theme developer, I was longing for this event, because it can bring Drupal closer to more people. Hopefully, I will write an entry for my experiences with the new Drupal soon enough.
Anw, this is my Vietnamese translation of the Press release (which has been published here)
